A European version of GES 1point5, the carbon calculator for research, is currently under development. Labos1point are looking for volunteer contributors.
GES 1point5 is a free, open-access, online tool designed by research staff to help research laboratories, institutes, and academic institutions estimate their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. For now, the tool is only available and tailored for French laboratories.
It is currently used by more than 1,000 research laboratories — that is, by over 100,000 staff members.
It can be accessed at https://apps.labos1point5.org/ges-1point5 (available in both English and French)
Labos1point5 are currently looking for volunteers to:
Test the tool and provide user feedback to adapt it to the context of European countries
Share raw data files with us (e.g., 2024 purchase data from your lab, or lists of travel and missions undertaken by researchers in 2023 or 2024) for use in the various modules
Any feedback is most welcome!
It would also be helpful if you could let Labos1point5 know the type of institution you are affiliated with (e.g., laboratory, university, research institute, etc.)
Please contact Marion Avet (marion.avet@inrae.fr) for any further information.
