“Region Europe” meeting becomes “UTC+1” meeting

Our region Europe meetings were packed with interesting talks and inspiring connections over the last several months. Now we want to explicitly include all regions and invite anyone for whom our usual time slot works out. The meetings take place every last Tuesday of the month at 3pm UTC. An exception will be the coming June meeting, where we will meet on a Monday, June 30th instead. Claudio Melo will report about ESO’s efforts towards sustainability.

The 3pm UTC slot primarily works for European and African time zones (particularly UTC+1 where this is late afternoon) due to availability of our organizers. But for late owls in Asia and early birds in the Americas it might be just as convenient! Please don’t hesitate to tune in for any of the meetings. There are always interesting talks coming up! They are always announced in our slack workspace.

The most recent one was by Abdulkadir Nuhu Aminu, Founder CEO of Desert Sky Exploration, who is based in Nigeria. He talked about “West Africa’s Cosmic Awakening: Unlocking Astronomy’s Educational Potential.” Abdul inspired a lively discussion with many ideas and we are looking forward to seeing what astronomy will continue to ignite!
