Facing the climate crisis can stir up feelings of overwhelm, despair, and grief. How can we continue to engage in hopeful action and inspire others during this time of division, distraction, and collapse? We invite you to make space for these big emotions in a series of online gatherings rooted in the deep ecology work of Joanna Macy, and tailored for our A4E community specifically. These offerings will be facilitated by A4E steering group member Anna Hurst and A4E member and eco-therapist Krista Gaston. Please join us for an introduction gathering on October 28, the 3-week workshop series in November, or both!
Introduction to the Work That Reconnects
October 28, 16:00-17:00 UTC, during the UTC+1 monthly gathering
The Work That Reconnects is meant for anyone who longs to serve the healing of our world in a more powerful and effective way. This interactive group process was developed by Joanna Macy in response to the burnout she witnessed amongst her fellow environmental activists, and it has been refined over several decades in cooperation with many colleagues. Join us for an introduction to the Work That Reconnects, a discussion of how this set of practices can support us as individuals and in our collective work, and an invitation to participate in a 3-week WTR workshop. Join us via Zoom in the UTC+1 meeting.
Making Space: Navigating the Emotional Landscape of Climate Work
Three weekly 90-minute zoom sessions, first 3 weeks of November, days & times are still TBD
Join us to experience the Work That Reconnects via an interactive virtual workshop tailored for the A4E community. Through meditations, discussions, reflection exercises, rituals, and role playing, we will co-create a container for expressing and witnessing our own and each other’s emotions. Over three weekly 90-minute zoom sessions, we’ll move through the “spiral” which is grounded in gratitude, moves us through despair and grief, and then onward into action. If you’d like to participate, please fill in this, please fill in this survey by October 5 to indicate your interest and vote for a time. We’ll announce the dates and registration details by October 6.
